About Us
Fan Mei Yeen Optometrist was set up by Ms. Fan Mei Yeen in 1990.
Ms. Fan Mei Yeen graduated in Sydney with a Master of Optmometry. She
then worked with EJ Benjamin at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre before
starting her own practice in 1990. A friendly and affable lady, she was
sadly missed for her detailed eye checking and ever smiling face, when
she passed away in November 2001, after a short spell of cancer. She was
loved by many, especially her patients, who still remember her till this
very day.
Christopher Tan
Mei Yeen’s able successor, Christopher Tan, is a friendly and patient
guy who possesses Mei Yeen’s eye for detail. Christopher is a registered
qualified practitioner with Health Science Authority, and the Honorary
Secretary of the Association of Contact Lens Practitioners (Singapore).
Armed with 23 years experience in the field of Optometry, Christopher
brings with him a high degree of knowledge in the field of Optometry and
is able to answer the many questions relating to eye problems. Many have
come to him and walked away with a better understanding of their eyes.
A familiar face whose warm approachable ways have endeared to many
patients, who likes his patient and detailed service.
He is also good at handling children, gained during his active
participation in the early part of the Contact Lens-Myopia Treatment
Study (CL-MTS) in 1996 to 1998, under the leadership of the late Assoc. Prof Chew Sek
Jin, Deputy Director of Singapore Eye Research Institute and Head Myopia
Unit. Christopher regularly conduct contact lens trial study, at the
invitation of major contact lens manufacturer.
